Why do we have good ideas in the shower?

If you believe in the Ironic Universe, you might be tempted to think it’s the Universe teasing you with a great idea while you’re in no position to act on it.

However, despite my firm belief in the Ironic Universe, I think it has more to do with this somewhat simple fact: while you’re in the shower you’re “outside” the normal problem space of your life. This distance gives you perspective, and the opportunity to see the problem in the larger context.

Or maybe it’s the soap suds.
